De monikken van het Benedictijner klooster van Santo Domingo de Silos (Noord-Spanje) veroverden in 1994-1995 de wereld met hun opnames van gregoriaanse gezangen: van hun CD′s werden wereldwijd vele miljoenen exemplaren verkocht; gregoriaanse muziek begon aan een verrassende opmars. De monikken deelden de hitlijsten met bands als Nirvana, Pearl Jam en Metallica.

Op deze 2-CD ′Anniversary Edition′ brengt Angel/EMI deze opnames opnieuw onder de aandacht: het pakket bevat beide volumes, Canto Gregoriano I & II.
